DART is making improvements at many of its stations and passenger facilities to give its system a cleaner, safer and more modern appeal. Most improvements are based on input from our customers through surveys and include:

• Improved lighting
• Improved visibility for passengers as light rail vehicles and buses arrive or leave stations and stops
• Real-time arrival and departure information
• Level boarding on all vehicles and light rail stations
• Greater protection from the elements when waiting for buses and trains
• New ticket vending machines

Along the Red and Blue lines, 23 station platforms will be raised to provide level boarding and greater accessibility, especially for those with limited mobility or traveling with strollers. The Orange and Green line platforms were raised in 2010.

DART’s Cityplace/Uptown station will see many changes, including new escalators and inclinators, a brighter design, and raised platforms for level boarding. Work is underway to replace escalators and inclinators and is expected to be completed by mid-2028.

Pilot bus shelter prototypes with designs informed by our customers were released in late 2024. After gathering user feedback on the prototypes, DART made design changes to ensure the final shelter designs best serve our riders’ needs. The installation of the first 60 shelters began in late 2025 and work will continue across the service area over the next few years.
