Station and Passenger Facilities

DART is making improvements at many of its stations and passenger facilities to give its system a cleaner, safer and modern appeal. Most improvements are based on input from our customers through surveys and include:

  • Optimized lighting
  • Improved visibility of light-rail vehicles and buses
  • Real-time arrival/departure information
  • Level boarding
  • Greater protection from the elements
  • New ticket vending machines

Along the Red and Blue lines, 23 station platforms will be raised to provide level boarding and greater access for all, especially those with limited mobility or traveling with strollers. The platforms on the Orange and Green lines have already been raised.

DART’s Cityplace/Uptown station will see many changes, including new escalators and inclinators, a brighter design, and raised platforms. Work has already begun to replace escalators and inclinators. The replacement project is expected to be completed by mid-2028.

Pilot bus shelter prototypes were released in late 2024 and the designs were informed by our customers. After gathering user feedback, DART made design changes to ensure the final shelter designs best serve our riders’ needs. The installation of the first 60 shelters began in late 2025 and work will continue for the next few years as more shelters are installed at locations across the DART Service Area.
